  2. Hi Audrey,

This is Greg Costanzo from Coral8’s support group. We sent you answers to these questions yesterday via email, but I wanted to make sure that you saw our responses.

    1. i have installed coral8 server and studio into pc running windows 2000 (sp4) but failed to run. Could it be due to the OS version?

We absolutely support Windows 2000. We’d like to understand any errors you are seeing, and the version of Coral8 that you are using in order to look into this. Please send us the errors that you are seeing when trying to run on Windows 2000. We run on XP and Windows Server 2003 as well.

    2. if no. 1 works, am i able to get sample of use cases or application for testing.

Yes our Studio ships with a lot of examples from various domains and industries. There is also a Getting Started tutorial that is good to go through for a very basic introduction to Coral8.

    3. can coral8 work well (ie. compatible) with our current sys/application eg. SAP, patches, antivirus, ……….

Yes, we are compatible with all such programs in the sense that we can all be running on the same machine. However, if you are running SAP on a windows box, you probably would not want Coral8 there as well in a production environment. You could do it in a development environment, of course, where the resource demands will be less.

Note that Coral8 integrates with SAP through MaxDB as well as RPC calls, if you are interested in being able to communicate between SAP and Coral8.

    4. can coral8 provide these services?
-> compile all the info from relevant department, such as puchasing -> to check for the consistency of puchasing certain products/services
-> do comparison -> to check for the month of april, purchasing spent most of the cost for xxx

Certainly. Keep in mind: Coral8 is a horizontal engine. Like a database, we are agnostic about the data you send to us. We provide no canned solutions for a specific domain. We have a language called CCL very much like SQL that allows you to write queries to do whatever you want. But we are not a database. We analyze streams of real time data. And while we can interact with databases to enrich the real time streams and write information to databases, we are different.
